What happens when administrative shells from different initiatives and companies with different technologies and implementation variants come together? This is exactly what the project "Networked administrative shells" is investigating over the next two years. Individual solutions will be brought together in a virtual testbed. In this way, the interaction of the administration shells can be analyzed and evaluated and requirements for the specification of the administration shells, including the interface specification, the I4.0 language and the IT infrastructure can be derived.
Users and SMEs have the possibility to connect their own AAS to the testbed and thus check their interoperability.
Thereby the interoperability between existing approaches shall be demonstrated. If this is achieved further demonstrators can probe its interoperability with these asset administration shells. This means: in a second step user and KMU have the possibility own asset administration shells to connect against the test bed and therefore to check the compatibility.
The project is funded by the german federal ministry for economy and energy and realised by the chair of the Otto-von-Guericke university (OvGU) in coordination with the platform industry 4.0. The initiator of the project is the platform I4.0 working group "reference architectures, standards and standardization".
Planned are workshop where user stories are generated and interaction protocols for different szenrios are tested. Beside the development of a software specification for the test bed and an exemplary software source code plug festivals are scheduled, where companies can test the interaction of its own implementations.
